Brad Hodge names the greatest T20 player of the current generation

The fever of the eighth of the Big Bash League (BBL) has taken over in Australia at the moment as some of the fine talents is on display. A total of eight city-based franchise teams are fighting it out for the ultimate glory with the last season winners Adelaide Strikers looking to defend the title. Meanwhile, the former Australian cricketer Brad Hodge is thrilled to watch the way close games are being played in the tournament so far.

On Sunday, the Strikers faced the Melbourne Renegades at home as the visitors ended up winning the game in a last over humdinger. Daniel Christian and Mohammad Nabi stitched a record partnership for their team and scripted a remarkable come from behind victory for the Renegades. Though Hodge was impressed with the leg-spinner Rashid Khan who is currently playing for defending champions and called him the greatest T20 player of the current generation.

Rashid’s intriguing spell

Chasing a total of 176 runs, the Renegades had got off to a brilliant start in the powerplay. But Rashid came into the attack to send back the dangerous looking Sam Harper and Cameron White in the same over. The crucial wickets put his team ahead in the game even as he ended with the magical figures of 2/13 in four overs. Unfortunately, the champion bowler ended up on the losing side but he continues to be a threat for the other teams.

Hodge was absolutely over the moon with the Afghan’s performance and rightly so as he is still a tough bowler to pick for the batsmen despite playing in all the leagues across the world. “Any team@with @rashidkhan_19 playing is a top two team. Greatest t20 player of the current generation,” Hodge tweeted after the match.

Rashid was also awarded the Man of the Match in the tournament opener against the Brisbane Heat at The Gabba a few days ago.
