Brendon McCullum to deliver MCC Spirit of Cricket Cowdrey Lecture

Former New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum will be delivering a lecture at MCC Spirit of Cricket Cowdrey on Monday. Eoin Morgan and Kumar Sangakkara will join him for Q & A session that will be handled by Mark Nicholas.

McCullum said that he feels honored to be chosen to deliver the MCC Spirit of Cricket Cowdrey Lecture. He added that he is looking forward to addressing a number of important issues in world cricket at the moment.

“It was an honour to be asked to deliver the MCC Spirit of Cricket Cowdrey Lecture especially given the stature of some previous speakers so I was very pleased to accept the invitation. There are a number of important issues in world cricket at the moment that I am looking forward to addressing, and I hope it is an interesting evening for everyone watching. I’m also very pleased to be joining the World Cricket Committee in October and being given the chance to discuss and have an impact on world cricket.”

The 34-year old former New Zealand skipper was chosen to deliver the speech not just because of his contribution towards New Zealand cricket but also for his services towards MCC Spirit of Cricket.

The attacking batsman, who played 101 Tests and aggregated 6453 runs at an average of 38.64 and 6083 runs in One Day International runs at an average of 30.41. He has been known for dominating the opposition with the positive intent, which took New Zealand to the finals of ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.

McCullum will be the second New Zealand cricketer to deliver this speech after Martin Crowe in 2006, as reported on cricbuzz.com.
