The T20 WC will begin with its Super 12 stage once the competition gets the two top teams each from group A and B in the Qualifier stage. Various experts and big names are coming up with their predictions ahead of the marquee event and former Australia speedster Brett Lee has joined the bandwagon. He made a bold prediction ahead of the Super 12 stage and has backed the Indian duo to be the highest run-scorer and wicket-taker in the tournament.

Lee has backed KL Rahul and Mohammed Shami to be the highest run-scorer and wicket-taker of the tournament. They both performed well in the recently concluded IPL. Only three bowlers had more wickets than Shami in IPL 2021. On the other hand, Rahul was leading the runs chart but couldn’t do more as PBKS didn’t qualify for playoffs. He scored 626 runs in 13 innings and led PBKS solely on many occasions. Rahul came up well in India’s both warm-up games as well.

“I think India are probably the favourites with their top four or five batters and their bowling attack. I have KL Rahul down as the top run-scorer in the tournament and Mohammed Shami to be the leading wicket-taker, purely going on the last few months. So, if they deliver and India have one of the leading run-scorers and wicket-takers, it’s a good start,” said Lee to ICC.

This is the one format of the game Australia’s men have not succeeded: Brett Lee

Moving further into the conversation, Lee added how Australia still lags behind in this format but he is still backing his team to win the T20 WC. He added that his might be a great expectation but nothing really will go in their favour if bars are not set high in the mega event.

“This is the one format of the game Australia’s men have not succeeded in at an ICC tournament and we Australians are hungry for it. For me, the expectation is that Australia will go and win the tournament. I know they might be high expectations but if you don’t go and set the bar very high, you are not going to succeed,” he added.
