Australian speedster Brett Lee looks mighty pleased with the way Indian pace bowlers have shaped up in the recent past. He believes that the pacers have a huge role to play for any team do succeed in any form of the game. In a recent interaction with PTI at Mumbai, the former Australian cricketer spoke at length about the prospects for the Indian pace brigade.

He noted that India is blessed to have some great bowlers in their lineup. He pointed out Jasprit Bumrah to be a promising young talent. Bumrah is renowned for bowling accurate yorkers at will in the death overs. While Bumrah is new to the international circuit, the Indian team boasts of someone like Ishant Sharma who has played over 70 Tests in his career. Umesh Yadav has been bowling with pace and was phenomenal this season.

“They have got some great fast bowlers in the Indian line-up. Bumrah as well, a bowler who has shown good promise to me, bowls good yorkers. Ishant Sharma has got the experience of 70 Test matches underneath his belt. Umesh Yadav has got pace, just to mention a few. So Indian cricket has some good bowling stocks coming through,” quoted Brett Lee.

Recently, former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar had remarked that for someone like Umesh Yadav, it is important to bowl more and more. Umesh bowled well throughout the 13-match long grand home season of Indian cricket where the Virat Kohli-led team won series against New Zealand, England, Bangladesh and Australia. Brett Lee totally agrees with the words of Sachin about Umesh needing more match practice.

“I agree 100 per cent with Sachin Tendulkar. The more he (Umesh) bowls, the better off he is going to be. Bowling is defined by momentum and rhythm and that comes by bowling and bowling and bowling,” conceded Lee.

Lastly, he cited that the team has been in a great form. However, the real challenge lies in doing well in overseas tours. “Any challenge is when you tour different countries, but that’s why winning in someone else’s country is such a challenging and exciting proposition,” the Aussie speedster concluded.
