Former West Indies captain and arguably the greatest left-handed batsman of all time, Brian Lara is all set to return to the cricketing arena after confirming his availability as a starter in the Western Australia Festival of Cricket Twenty20 exhibition match against the Perth Scorchers.

Lara will be seen in action alongside other former Aussie stalwarts like Adam Gilchrist, Ricky Ponting and Andrew Symonds. Herschelle Gibbs, a destructive batsman during his playing days will join Lara in the legends side along with Ryan Campbell who will be flying in from Hong Kong.

The legendary southpaw is returning to the Festival of Cricket for the 3rd consecutive year after performing well in 2014 and 2015. Despite retiring from international cricket way back in the year 2007, Lara has clearly not lost his magic touch, having scored two half-centuries in his last two meetings.

It will be another opportunity for the Australian crowds to witness some former legendary figures in action and due to the aura surrounding the game, the match will be streamed live on cricket.com.au and the CA Live app.

The Festival of Cricket has become a major cricketing event of Western Australia and a huge crowd is expected for this year’s event with limited tickets left for the match at the Aquinas College Ground in Perth.

“The Festival of Cricket presents the public and corporates with a unique opportunity to not only watch a high-quality T20 match in a relaxed, social environment but also to mix and mingle with many current and past greats of the game,” Adam Gilchrist said of the event.

“The chance to run around with a bunch of old mates and pit ourselves against the Scorchers is exciting and sure to be entertaining for all.”

It will be the third time when Perth Scorchers face off against the Legends XI. The match is expected to witness some of the former legends in action but it will be much more than an exhibition match for the Perth Scorchers. It will provide them with the much-needed warm-up ahead of their BBL 06 campaign.
