The Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis is currently having the time of his life. After being a regular face in the yellow jersey and performing extensively well with both bat and the ball, Stoinis has become a pivotal player for all the teams he plays. In the recently concluded Big Bash League (BBL), the Melbourne Stars propped up the bottom of the table. However, Marcus performed decently in this season which has eventually helped to be in the limelight.
It has been believed that Brisbane Heat, have tabled a whopping offer to the Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis in an effort to lure the out-of-contract 28-year-old away from the Melbourne Stars. The Brisbane Heat already looks a formidable lineup with the likes of Brendon McCullum and Chris Lynn. Furthermore, if Marcus accepts Brisbane Heat’s offer, they might turn out to be a team to beat.
Stoinis might take a call
As per ESPNcricinfo, In a proposed multi-year deal believed to be worth about AUD 200,000 (USD 156,000 approx) a season, Stoinis would join the Brisbane Heat. The deal looks too good to be rejected and he might well be targeting to play with the Bash Brothers who have got a one-year contract on their side.
On the other hand, Melbourne Stars will keep their fingers crossed and wait for Marcus Stoinis’ decision. The Stars have said a goodbye to Kevin Pietersen and Luke Wright, who played their last season in the Big Bash League. To add to the morose, Peter Handscomb also out of contract, a degree of change to the BBL club’s on-field roster is expected.
Lastly, there is also a question of how long Marcus Stoinis can play. He currently features in both ODI as well as the T20 and is well-eyeing all-rounder spot in the Test cricket. His current form suggests that he might be the first alternative for Australia in the absence of Mitchell Marsh. Also, he was retained in the IPL this year by Kings XI Punjab for USD 1.2 million approx. It will be interesting to see whether Stoinis continue to show faith in his current franchise or make a move to Brisbane Heat.
