The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) is looking to increase the height of the sightscreen after the recent incident involving the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli. RCB’s opening batsman Kohli was dismissed for a golden duck against hosts KKR for the first time in this year’s tournament after a string of good scores in his previous outing.

The officials are looking to increase the height at the Eden Gardens to a one that they use in the International fixtures after complaints from Kohli, regarding the disturbance caused by the people above the smallish side screen in the lower tier of the BC Roy Clubhouse.

This incident occurred in the first over, when the Australian bowler Nathan Coulter-Nile found the outside edge of the Indian skipper’s bat. After this incident, Virat was fuming at the decision and was caught involving in an argument with the fourth official.

This is what the Challengers skipper said during the post-match interview: “The sightscreen is very small here, one guy got up as the bowler was loading up, that distracted me. Still it wasn’t a big deal. That was just one down. Nine guys could have done the job. There’s nothing to review anything about the second half, it was that bad. We need to forget it and move forward. We’re a much better team.”

It is likely that the Knight Riders would take this decision after their encounter against the Rising Pune Supergiant in Pune. If there is a change in the height of the side screen, there would be a loss of 250-270 seats behind the side screen. At the moment it looks like the organisers would not want to mess with the side screen at this time, with the supporters having bought the tickets for their next home game on Friday against the Delhi Daredevils.
