Stylish southpaw Yuvraj Singh feels that former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has taken the right decision to step down from Indian’s limited-overs captaincy and handed over the reign to his successor Virat Kohli. Kohli has already proved in the longest format that he is a leader by example but it remains to be seen whether he can replicate that in ODIs and T20Is.

Yuvraj who has been selected in the ODI squad for the upcoming 3 match series against England is this is after 3 years he making a comeback in the 50 over format. “I think he took a very good decision in stepping down (as captain),” he said, “I’m sure he saw that it’s time for the next guy to take over and build the team for the 2019 World Cup and he must have seen that in Virat (Kohli),” Yuvi was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.

He also lauded Dhoni on his stupendous achievements during his tenure as an Indian skipper form 2007-2016. “We have won the T20 World Cup, the ICC World Cup and the ICC Champions Trophy and were also the number one Test team under him. I’m not sure how many captains have that,” he said.

Yuvraj has returned to the national side on the back of solid performances in the domestic circuit. People have questioned his inclusion on social media citing fitness to be a major issue for the 35-year-old. Yuvraj also feels that he needs to concentrate more on his fitness considering his age and also has to deal with the changes his body have gone through while battling cancer.

“I need to be very careful with everything I do. The science of fitness has advanced and that is how we are learning,” he said, “If you see the boys in the Indian team, everybody is training pretty hard and physically fit. Being physically fit is a very important part of improving mental strength.”
