Windies are not having a fruitful tour of India at the moment. They’ve already lost the Test and ODI series and went down meekly in the first of the three-match T20I rubber. Having said that, the visitors have found some young talent on this tour. One of them is Oshane Thomas who has time and again troubled the top Indian batsmen. Even in the series opener, he went on to scalp Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan to rock India’s chase early.

Thomas bowls with sheer pace and the youngster also clicked 149 kph to keep the batsmen on the tenterhooks. He ended the match with the decent figures of 2/21. Even in the fifth and final ODI, he almost had India captain Virat Kohli only to be dropped by Jason Holder in the slips. No wonder he is one of the bright prospects for Windies in the near future.

Brathwaite excited with Thomas

In the post-match presentation ceremony, Carlos Brathwaite was all praise of Oshane Thomas and even went on to say that the team will look guide him as much as they can. He also revealed the fast bowler was told just before the start of the match.

“He’s (Thomas) at the best place he could be. Hope he gets fitter, gets stronger and continues to bowl rapid, and continue to grow as a cricketer and a person. For him, the world is at his feet. I will try to guide him as well as we can. Ultimately, it’s up to us, the Windies cricket system, to pull him along and create what would be another Joel Garner or Michael Holding,” Brathwaite said.

However, the Windies T20 skipper cleared that he is not aware of the cricket board’s plans for Thomas. “I don’t know what the long-term plans will be from the selection panel but had a few chats with him (Thomas), just about using this opportunity,” he added.
