Chris Cooke hilariously trips on stumps against Kent in County Championship, leaves teammates in splits

In Group three, Glamorgan are up against Kent in the ongoing match of the 2021 edition of the County Championship at St Lawrence Ground in Canterbury. While the two teams were showcasing their skills on the cricket field, the fans were entertained with a hilarious episode on Day 2 of the game. 

The 28th over of the match saw Australia’s speedster Michael Neser bowling against England’s Sam Billings. On the fourth delivery, Billings hit the ball towards the fine leg and ran to take a single. The ball was collected by the fielder standing in the deep and he was preparing to throw the ball towards the wicketkeeper. 

Chris Cooke, who was standing behind the wickets with the gloves, quickly moved towards the stumps to collect the ball. However, the fielder misdirected his throw and in order to stop the ball, Cooke ran into the stumps. Though Chris managed to stop the ball, he ended up crashing over the stumps and managed to uproot two stumps before tumbling down to the ground.

Cooke’s encounter with the wickets made for a hilarious episode and all the players present on the match field couldn’t stop smiling over the affair. The official Twitter handle of Glamorgan uploaded the short clip of the funny incident on their official Twitter handle with the caption, “His teammates enjoyed this one from the skipper!”

Chris Cooke won the toss and invited Kent to bat first

Cooke is experiencing an ideal outing in the ongoing County Championship as he is leading the charts as the second-highest run-getter for Glamorgan. Chris is just behind Kiran Carlson. The skipper has smashed a stunning 365 runs in just seven games including a fifty and a couple of tons. 

As far as the match is concerned, Chris won the toss and invited the Kent skipper Sam Billings and his men to post a total on the board. Batting first, Kent have managed to post 307 runs in their 76.2 overs, with Darren Stevens scoring an attacking 190 in just 149 balls, with 15 sixes and as many fours.
