The injury woes of Chris Lynn continued when he landed awkwardly on his shoulder during the final of the T20I tri-series against New Zealand on Wednesday. He had just made his come back to the national side after missing the major part of the home season due to the similar injury. However, he is once again set to miss the cricketing action in the near future after dislocating his shoulder while fielding at the Eden Park in Auckland.

Lynn is somewhat a T20 specialist for Australia and is known for his swashbuckling hitting at the top of the order. In the ongoing tri-series, he has smashed 11 fours and four gigantic maximums so far and scored his runs at a wonderful strike rate of 138.80. It is unlikely though that he will come out to bat as Australia possess a strong and long batting line-up.

What happened on the field?

The unfortunate incident happened during the ninth over of the first innings when New Zealand were batting. Ross Taylor clipped the fullish delivery of Billy Stanlake to mid-wicket which went past the diving Chris Lynn and scrambled for a couple of runs. Lynn dived to save the runs and landed awkwardly on his shoulder only to invite the physio on the ground. He was in a lot of pain and was eventually taken off the field for the rest of the innings. Travis Head, the 12th man, came out to field as a substitute for him.

As far as the match is concerned, Australia are cantering towards victory in the chase of 150. The opening duo of David Warner and D’Arcy Short have provided the team with a great start and are set to gun down the total. The latter reached his second consecutive half-century and was soon sent back by Colin Munro soon. Though the visitors are the favourites to clinch the title of the tri-series with only 78 runs needed to win in 71 deliveries.
