With the Supreme Court appointing a Committee of Administrators (CoA) to look into the matters of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), there are a plethora of unanswered questions on the morning. The fact of the matter is that while many have dodged the bullet in the form of resigning from their respective state bodies, but the fact is that there are still a few questions that need to be answered.

These questions see the legends such as Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly called into question for the same. These two are heavily respected individuals given the fact that they have now taken up roles with either administration as well as coaching respectively. However, while all of this is good for one and all, there is a tiny part they are forgetting called the conflict of interest.

This issue has eluded the Board in the past when N Srinivasan, the former President of the BCCI went ahead and amended a rule of the IPL constitution to retain his rights to have a stake in the in the Chennai Super Kings, a stake that he bought before he was elected president of the board.

However at the moment, the spotlight is well and truly on Ganguly and Dravid with both these legends clearly violating the conflict of interest rule in the grand scheme of things. While Ganguly has a stake in the Indian Super League Franchise Atletico de Kolkata, Dravid has a part-time role as the mentor of the Delhi Daredevils, a role which he was previously associated with until the ban of the Rajasthan Royals a few months back.

A report from Cricbuzz read: ” In early 2016, a complaint was filed with the BCCI-appointed ombudsman AP Shah highlighting that Shah, an employee of BCCI since November 2011, was first employed in the treasurer’s office and moved to secretary’s office in April 2015.”
