After winning the T20I series 1-2 against England, India’s campaign on English soil has gone from bad to worse with the progression of every match. The visitors won the first of the three-match ODI series but slumped to a couple of successive defeats to subsequently lose the series 1-2. Thereafter, their poor run of form has got carried over to the ongoing five-match Test series as well, much to their agony.

India had every chance of winning the first Test at Edgbaston in Birmingham but stumbled at the finishing line. The Lord’s Test turned out to be equivalent to a nightmare as the visiting team lost by an innings and 159 runs. Albeit Virat Kohli and Co made a comeback at Trent Bridge in Nottingham, they couldn’t replicate their show at The Ageas Bowl in Southampton and lost the series.

It will be CoA’s call

Even in the current Test at Kennington Oval in London, India aren’t in the best of positions. In the meantime, head coach Ravi Shastri’s role has come under the scanner after India’s abysmal performances. The Committee of Administrators (CoA) of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to discuss the issue with the former Indian cricketer.

“There is a CoA meeting in Mumbai on September 11. While the main discussion will be on implementation of the new constitution, the performance of England series will certainly come up for discussion,” a BCCI official was quoted as saying in Times Now.

“It will be CoA’s call whether they want to meet Ravi Shastri in person or seek his feedback via a written report. At this point in time, Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) is non-functional. Till elections are held, it’s CoA which will be in charge, so it’s only imperative that they will assess the performance,” the official added.
