The Committee of Administrators (CoA) is not very pleased with the abrupt exit of Anil Kumble as the coach of the national side. They have asked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Chief Executive Officer Rahul Johri to get a detailed report about what perspired between Anil Kumble and Virat Kohli during the recently concluded ICC Champions Trophy.

Apparently, Virat Kohli is being seen as the chief reason for Kumble’s exit. Kumble, in his note addressing the media and fans, noted that things were not on the sweetest of notes between him and Kohli. Hence, the CoA has now asked Rahul Johri to get a report from team’s administrative manager Kapil Malhotra about the rift between Kumble and Kohli.

As per the reports in News18, the CoA chief Vinod Rai will discuss the issue with the BCCI officials in a meeting at Mumbai on June 24. One of the senior officials has confirmed the news about Johri being asked to get a detailed report.

“The COA has asked Johri to fecilitate a report from Malhotra about what exactly happened in England. Johri will then submit it to COA chief Vinod Rai. Malhotra is currently in West Indies — his last assignment as Indian team’s administrative manager. He is expected to give his report to CEO soon,” the official quoted.

Tensions brewing from a long time

The official was further asked whether the tensions between the coach and the captain brewed up even before the Champions Trophy. The official noted that the board has taken that into consideration as well and hence will be seeking a report from Anil Patel, the administrative head of the team during the home season this year.

“The CEO has been also asked to check if Anil Patel, the administrative manager during the entire home series has given any report mentioning the difference between the captain and the coach. If so, that report also needs to be submitted to the COA,” the official conceded.
