The Indian cricket board, the BCCI, has been asked to declare the name of the Indian head coach today, by the Supreme Court appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA). The decision was scheduled to be taken yesterday on 10th July, but the Cricket Advisory Committee decided to postpone the announcement after hosting the interviews. But the CoA does not want the BCCI to hold the matter any further and has urged them to reveal it today.

What Ganguly had to say:

Sourav Ganguly, who is an integral part of the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), said that they want to talk to Indian skipper Virat Kohli and keep him informed about how the coaches want to work before taking the decision. Virat Kohli is currently in America on a holiday after the team’s Caribbean tour. On Virat Kohli’s return, Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman, all three members of the CAC, will sit down with the captain in order to take a decision.

“We want to speak to Virat Kohli, once he is back from America, all three of us, the respective people concerned, we will explain to him that the coaches want to function in a certain way and make sure everybody is on the same page once we make the announcement. Once, we make the announcement, it has to be till the World Cup,” said Ganguly.

According to reports, the COA comprising Vinod Rai as chairman, and Vikram Limaye and Diana Edulji has asked the BCCI to notify Kohli about the presentations put forward by the coaches on phone and announce the head coach today itself. The 5 candidates who were interviewed yesterday are Virender Sehwag, Ravi Shastri, Lalchand Rajput, Tom Moody and Richard Pybus.

The gates opened for a new head coach after the previous man in charge Anil Kumble stepped down with dignity. Indian skipper Virat Kohli had complications with the legendary leg-spinner and demanded a new face in the position. The CAC will decide the replacement for Anil Kumble, and the selected person will lead the Indian team at least till the 2019 World Cup.
