Comilla Victorians (COV) and Sylhet Strikers (SYL) entertain fans in Match no. 16 of the ninth edition of  Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) on Tuesday, January 17th, 2023 at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram. Both sides already met in Match no. five of this season in Mirpur where the Strikers clinched the contest by a margin of five wickets. 

The Victorians have had a disappointing start to the tournament as they have played three matches so far and lost all three of them. They lost their campaign opener against Rangpur Riders by a 34-run margin before losing out to the Strikers in the next. Comilla got beaten by Fortune Barishal by a margin of 12 runs in their last outing. With no points and a net run rate of -1.123, they are placed at rock bottom at the seventh position in the table. On the other hand, the Strikers have been in supreme form in this edition as they have played four games and won all four of them. They won their opening two matches against Chattogram Challengers and Barishal by eight and six wickets respectively. Sylhet continued their form against the Victorians and then defeated Dhaka Dominators by 62 runs in their last encounter. 

Speaking of the Head-to-Head affairs, Comilla has the wood over Sylhet as they have won five out of the seven clashes in the history of the BPL.

Jaker Ali remained unbeaten on 57 off 43 as the Victorians managed to reach 149/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Thisara Perera and Mohammad Amir picked up two wickets each for the Sylhet. Chasing 150, Towhid Hridoy made 56 as the Strikers sealed the deal in the 18th over.
