England star pacer James Anderson has already earned a lot for himself in the international circuit. Being the only pacer in the 600 Test wickets club, Anderson never leaves a chance to shine bright for the Englishmen. However, in the latest turn of events, the pacer pulled off a commendable feat in first-class cricket as he completed his 1000 wickets after registering a stunning figure against Kent.

Anderson was plying his trade in the County Championship for Lancashire and he registered magical figures of 7/19 while playing against Kent. Not only he completed his 1000 FC wickets but his classy pace attack pushed Lancashire to wrap up Kent’s show on just 74 runs at Old Trafford. He took a wicket each in his first three overs and then went on to clinch four more to unlock a huge milestone.

It has to be noted that Anderson became the first player to bring 1000 wickets for Lancashire after Jack Simmons in 1998. The 38-year-old player became the 216th bowler to pull off the feat but he agreed that he could be the last bowler to do so owing to the jam-packed international schedule.

It was a lifelong dream to play for Lancashire: James Anderson

“I’m away a lot with England and don’t get to play much for Lancashire so it makes it that much more special to do it here and with a performance that helps the team. It was a lifelong dream to play for Lancashire. It feels special to get the milestone here where I took my first wicket. Getting Ian Ward out here is something I’ll never forget,” said Anderson as quoted by News 18.

“To get 1,000 first-class wickets is becoming harder with the amount of cricket that is played across the world. It is getting less and less likely that it will happen again. I could potentially be the last person to do it, which just adds to the feeling of it being very, very special,” he added.

Anderson concluded by adding that off late he has been practicing a lot in nets where he works on his action and techniques. He added that conditions were also quite favourable for him in the same game.
