Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir was at his absolute best as he scalped two wickets in two balls as well as getting one more wicket prior to that for his County side Gloucestershire in a County Championship match against Hampshire. It must be noted that Hampshire began their second innings with a lead of 163 runs.

However, the left-arm pacer from Pakistan showed his true colours as he first scalped Felix Organ for a duck in the second ball of the second innings. To note, the right-handed batter was caught at slip as he could not control a rising delivery. The left-arm pacer then scalped the South African batter Kyle Abbott and his countryman Mohammad Abbas within two balls. Both Abbott and Abbas had no idea what hit them as Gloucestershire were left reeling at 15/4.

Notably, the former Pakistan pacer made his comeback to first-class cricket last week after missing the action for the past three years. The left-arm pacer signed a three-match deal with Gloucestershire as an injury replacement for his countryman and express pacer Naseem Shah.

Mohammad Amir’s sensational comeback to red-ball cricket

The left-arm pacer Amir finished with three wickets and gave away just 22 runs in his six-over spell. Amir will want to replicate his brilliance with the ball ahead as well.

As far as Amir’s international career is concerned, the veteran left-arm pacer represented his country last in 2020. Amir played against England in August 2020 in his last international assignment before hanging his boots in the international arena. Overall, the 30-year-old played 61 ODIs for Pakistan and scalped a total of 81 wickets for the Men in Green.

In Test matches, Amir played 36 encounters and took 119 wickets at an average of 30.47. In the 20-over format, Amir played exactly 50 matches and was successful in getting 59 wickets at a decent average of 21.41. With the star pacer doing exceptionally well in County matches, fans and experts wonder whether Amir can don the Pakistan jersey once again.
