Trinbago Knight Riders, after their thumping victory against Barbados Tridents, are in the third position and have an opportunity to move to the top of the points table if they manage to win against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots at St Kitts in their upcoming match of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). The Patriots are hanging midway in the table and desperately need a victory.

Moreover, they are yet to win a match against the Knights at Warner Park and hence, Dwayne Bravo’s men are expected to have the upper hand in the next encounter. Chris Gayle and Co would move to the third spot if they manage to roll over their opponent. In their previous meeting at Queens Park Oval at Port of Spain, the Patriots got home by a mammoth margin of 42 runs.

Pitch

The pitch at Warner Park, Basseterre in St Kitts helped the batters and a fairly high-scoring match was on show when the Patriots locked horns with Guyana Amazon Warriors. However, the track also provided adequate assistance to the spinners. Both teams have got a couple of useful spinners in their ranks and would like to bowl first after which their batsmen can take advantage of the dew.

Team Combination

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots

The Patriots won’t want to change their lineup much. Chris Gayle and Evin Lewis haven’t quite been at their very best and will have to hit their straps at the earliest. The likes of Anton Devcich, Mahmudullah and Tom Cooper, being the experienced campaigners, also need to deliver. In the bowling department, Ben Cutting and Brathwaite’s role would be important.

Predicted XI

Chris Gayle (C), Evin Lewis, Brandon King, Devon Thomas (wk), Tom Cooper, Anton Devcich, Mahmudullah, Ben Cutting, Carlos Brathwaite, Sheldon Cottrell, Hayden Walsh

Trinbago Knight Riders

The Knights are likely to give Hamza Tariq an opportunity in place of Chris Lynn, who left the tournament midway. Brendon McCullum is likely to open with Sunil Narine. The onus will also be on Colin Munro and Darren Bravo, two of their leading run scorers, to perform. Moreover, the spin-bowling trio of Narine, Fawad Ahmed and Khary Pierre will be crucial.

Predicted XI

Sunil Narine, Brendon McCullum, Colin Munro, Darren Bravo, Denesh Ramdin (wk), Dwayne Bravo (C), Hamza Tariq, Javon Searles, Ali Khan, Fawad Ahmed, Khary Pierre

Probable top performers

Chris Gayle- St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, Brendon McCullum- Trinbago Knight Riders

The prediction is for Trinbago Knight Riders to win the match.
