St Kitts and Nevis Patriots faltered in their last match against the Trinbago Knight Riders and have to win their penultimate match against Jamaica Tallawahs in St Kitts in order to strengthen their chances of making it to the playoffs in this year’s Caribbean Premier League (CPL). Prior to that, they will also hope for the result of the match between Barbados Tridents and St Lucia Stars to turn out in their favour.

On the contrary, the Tallawahs have the opportunity of not only moving to the top of the points table but also become the first team to officially qualify for the playoffs in the event. They have won their last two matches and are in impressive form. Previously, Andre Russell’s men defeated Chris Gayle and Co in Jamaica and would be keen to replicate their form in the upcoming encounter as well.

Pitch

The track at Warner Park, Basseterre has been relatively kind to the batsmen thus far in the tournament. However, the spinners have also had their say. Two matches out of three have been won, batting second. Despite their defeat, the Patriots would prefer to chase. The Tallawahs also have a power-packed batting lineup and they won’t mind chasing either.

Team Combination

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots

The Patriots are likely to make at least one alteration if not more. Tom Cooper may replace Rassie van der Dussen. Apart from that, the rest of the lineup will more or less be the same. Evin Lewis would be satisfied to score his maiden half-century last night. Chris Gayle, their leading run-getter, needs to step up as well. The bowlers also need to pull their socks up ahead of the crucial fixture.

Predicted XI

Chris Gayle (C), Evin Lewis, Brandon King, Tom Cooper, Devon Thomas (wk), Anton Devcich, Ben Cutting, Carlos Brathwaite, Mahmudullah, Alzarri Joseph, Sheldon Cottrell,

Jamaica Tallawahs

The Tallawahs will retain their winning eleven from the last match against the Tridents. Glenn Phillips and Johnson Charles, two of their leading run scorers, need to perform. The middle-order isn’t short of firepower with the likes of Powell, Miller, Russell and de Grandhomme in their ranks. Russell and Oshane Thomas’ performance will definitely hold value.

Predicted XI

Glenn Phillips (wk), Johnson Charles, Kennar Lewis, Rovman Powell, David Miller, Andre Russell (C), Colin de Grandhomme, Kemar Roach, Adam Zampa, Samuel Badree, Oshane Thomas

Probable top performers

Chris Gayle- St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, Andre Russell- Jamaica Tallawahs

The prediction is for Jamaica Tallawahs to win the match.
