Trinbago Knight Riders have been unstoppable thus far in the 2020 edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). Having won their first three games, Kieron Pollard and Co are sitting pretty on top of the points table. After beating the Barbados Tridents by 19 runs, TKR will now face Daren Sammy’s St Lucia Zouks at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain in the first of Wednesday’s doubleheader.

On head-to-head, the Knights are leading the Zouks by 10-2. But the Zouks can take heart from the fact that both their wins came at the venue for the upcoming match. Sammy’s men are in excellent rhythm as well, winning three games in a row after losing the opener against Jamaica Tallawahs. They must be brimming with confidence after defeating 2019 champions Guyana Amazon Warriors.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch at the venue has mostly been batting friendly and there could be a flurry of boundaries in store for the encounter. Spinners are likely to get a fair amount of assistance from the surface and both teams have some quality tweakers in their ranks. There are chance of rain around 10 AM in the morning and hence interruptions are possible. The temperature will be around 31 degrees Celsius.

Playing Combinations

St Lucia Zouks

The Zouks have mostly depended on their bowling to deliver. Mohamamd Nabi and Roston Chase have been excellent, picking eight wickets and conceding 114 runs in their 24 overs. The duo has also done well with the bat in hand, scoring a combined tally of 212 runs. Chase also has two fifties.

Scott Kuggelejin has been expensive with an economy of 8.37, but he has 10 wickets to show for his efforts. Chemar Holder picked up two wickets and the Zouks might pursue with him, leaving out Obed McCoy. Zouks can think about adding Rahkeem Cornwall, who was rested for the last game.

Sunil Narine faltered with the bat against the Tridents, but he can’t be undermined by any means. He has arguably been TKR’s standout bowler, picking up four wickets at an economy of 4.58. Colin Munro and Darren Bravo are in riveting touch as well, notching 116 and 98 runs respectively.

Skipper Pollard also found form with a 17-ball 41 against the Tridents. But concerns remain with Lendl Simmons, who is yet to get going at an average of 12.66. Fawad Ahmed has three wickets at an economy of 6.44. Among the pacers, Ali Khan hasn’t flattered to deceive, picking four scalps.
