Guyana Amazon Warriors opened their points tally on Wednesday with a clinical performance against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. Keemo Paul’s 4-wicket haul and Imran Tahir’s two crucial wickets played the major role in limiting the Patriots to 127 after they raced to the 50-run mark in 5.3 overs. Guyana’s chase was all about Shimron Hetmyer whose 44-ball 71 powered the last season’s runners-up to seal a 3-wicket victory. Despite losing five wickets for 28 runs, the Warriors reached the target with three overs to spare.

Here are all the statistical highlights from the Guyana Amazon Warriors’ first win of the tournament:

Guyana’s winning streak over Patriots:

5 – Guyana Amazon Warriors now have won each of their last five CPL matches against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. The Warriors defeated Patriots in both their meetings during the 2018 and 2019 seasons. All the five wins of Guyana during this winning streak came while chasing a target only. In overall, the Warriors won nine of the 11 CPL matches they played against the SKN Patriots.

Milestone win for the Warriors:

50 – This 3-wicket win over the Patriots is now the 50th victory in the CPL for the Guyana Amazon Warriors. They are the first side to win as many as 50 matches in the history of CPL. Guyana played 80 CPL matches thus far losing 29 of them while another match ended in a tie which they won in the Super over.

Keemo’s record effort:

4/19 – Keemo Paul’s bowling figures of 4/19 are now the 2nd best figures in the CPL against SKN Patriots. Dwayne Bravo had figures of 4/13 against the Patriots during the 2016 season match.

Top performances in Tarouba:

71 – Shimron Hetmyer’s 71-run knock is now the highest T20 score for any player at the Brian Lara Cricket Stadium. The previous highest was 70 by Luke Ronchi in the 2017 season also for Guyana against Jamaica Tallawahs.

4/19 – Keemo’s bowling figures are now the best in the T20 format at the Brian Lara Stadium. Raymon Reifer’s 4/24 during the final of 2019 season are the previous best bowling figures in T20 format at this venue.

Pooran’s milestone as a keeper:

50 – Nicholas Pooran became only the 2nd wicketkeeper with 50 dismissals in the CPL. The catch to dismiss Denesh Ramdin was the 50th dismissal in CPL as keeper for Pooran. Interestingly, Ramdin (58) is the only other keeper with 50+ keeping dismissals in CPL.

The catch of Ramdin was Pooran’s 41st as keeper making it the most number of catches in the CPL. He also went past Ramdin’s tally of 40 catches. But Denesh returned the favour by claiming Pooran’s catch to tie on 41 catches.

7 – Pooran now has been dismissed for a duck on seven occasions in the CPL. Only Sunil Narine (9) and Kieron Pollard (8) have registered more ducks in CPL than Pooran thus far.
