The 6th match of CPL 2020 is scheduled to be played at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad between Trinbago Knight Riders and Jamaica Tallawahs on 21st August 2020. The three-time champions Knight Riders started their run on a high by winning against the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the inaugural clash of the tournament as the Trinidadian all-rounder Sunil Narine shone with both bat and ball. However, the Rovman Powell-led Jamaica Tallawahs are not going to be pushovers for the Knight Riders and the contest between the two teams is set to be exciting.

Similar to Knight Riders, the Tallawahs have also started their campaign on a winning note as they handed St. Lucia Zouks a 5-wicket defeat at this venue. With the likes of Andre Russell, Carlos Brathwaite, Sandeep Lamichchane, Mujeeb-ur-Rehman, and Oshane Thomas, the team has some star performers who will look to contribute and continue with their winning run.

Whereas boasting the likes of Sunil Narine, Colin Munro, Dwayne, and Darren Bravo, and Kieron Pollard, the Knight Riders appear to be a robust unit as well. All in all, this is going to be a close clash between two strong teams of the tournament.

Pitch and playing conditions

Today being a double-header at the same venue, the track will be used for 40-overs before the start of play. It is therefore expected to assist the spinners as has been the case in the past few occasions in Trinidad.

The pitch might even slow down a bit, however, given that the match is going to be a night encounter, the ball should come on to the bat nicely. The fact that only 1 of the last 4 matches at this venue has been won by the team defending, the ideal choice would be to bat first after winning the toss.

Playing combinations

Trinbago Knight Riders

Sunil Narine was the standout performer for the Knight Riders as he bagged a couple of wickets and slammed a 28-ball half-century. Lendl Simmons and Colin Munro got off to starts in the first match but failed to convert and will hence look forward to getting into rhythm.

Darren Bravo, Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard alongside Tim Seifert and Sikandar Raza will form their middle-order. In the bowling unit, Ali Khan kept things tight in the last match and got one wicket. Fawad Ahmed was disciplined, however, he went wicket-less.

Though Jayden Seales and Dwayne Bravo leaked runs, Knight Riders are expected to go in with the same playing XI as the last match.

Predicted XI: Lendl Simmons, Sunil Narine, Colin Munro, Tim Seifert (wk), Darren Bravo, Kieron Pollard (C), Dwayne Bravo, Sikandar Raza, Jayden Seales, Fawad Ahmed, Ali Khan.

Bench: Amir Jangoo, Tion Webster, Akeal Hosein, Khary Pierre, Anderson Phillip, Pravin Tambe.

Jamaica Tallawahs

Glenn Philips performed well for his 29-ball 44 at the top, however, his opening partner Chadwick Walton looked rusty. Nicholas Kirton should be given a chance after a cold outing and he is expected to come in at No. 3 like the previous match.

Skipper Rovmann Powell played a decent hand alongside Asif Ali, who played a blistering knock during the chase. Andre Russell and Carlos Brathwaite will occupy their spots in the middle-order. A change in the bowling unit looks unlikely and three spinners in Veerasammy Permaul, Sandeep Lamichchane, and Mujeeb-ur-Rehman are expected to play. Right-arm quick Oshane Thomas was expensive and failed to make an impression and will look to gain some momentum.

Predicted XI: Glenn Phillips (wk), Chadwick Walton, Jermaine Blackwood, Rovman Powell, Andre Russell, Asif Ali, Carlos Brathwaite, Oshane Thomas, Sandeep Lamichhane, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Fidel Edwards/Ramaal Lewis

Bench: Veerasammy Permaul, Preston McSween, Nicholas Kirton, Nkrumah Bonner, Ryan Persaud, Ramaal Lewis/Fidel Edwards
