In the Indian Premier League (IPL), spinners become important for any team as on turning tracks of India, they play a crucial role in providing breakthroughs to their teams in middle-overs. In the tournament's last edition, Yuzvendra Chahal from Rajasthan Royals (RR) won the Purple Cap by becoming the highest wicket-taker with 27 wickets in 17 games with a scintillating economy of 7.75. Along with Chahal, Wanindu Hasaranga from Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) with 26 wickets, Kuldeep Yadav from Delhi Capitals (DC) with 21 wickets, and Rashid Khan from Gujarat Titans (GT) with 19 wickets also dominated the chart of the leading wicket-takers in the IPL.

Going through these stats, it can be said that in the league, spinners are an integral part of any team to achieve success in games. Talking about past performances also, it can be said that spinners such as Sunil Narine, Imran Tahir, Pragyan Ojha, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Harbhajan Singh have dominated the tournament with their incredible spin bowling skills. In the upcoming mini-auction on December 23, 2022, in Kochi, the franchises would look forward to investing in some good spinners keeping the Indian conditions and amazing past record of spinners in the tournament in mind.

5 spin bowlers who could initiate bidding battle among the franchises in mini-auction

5. Akeal Hosein

This year the West Indies left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein has registered his name for the forthcoming IPL mini-auction. The 29-year-old spinner playing for his national team scalped 25 wickets in 32 T20I games at an economy rate of 7.03. Looking at his figures for the Caribbean team, it can be said that at the auction table, he could be one of the favourite spinners for the franchises to rope in their teams.

On spin-friendly wickets of India, Hosein with his slow left-arm orthodox spin can trouble batters. The Windies spinner with his variations in speed and length can also hoax big names in batting. In the matches he played, the bowler also impressed many fans of the game by using carrom balls and arm balls to trap batters.

At the auction, with his spectacular bowling record and proficient bowling skills, he could attract a massive amount from the franchises such as Mumbai Indians (MI) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) who lack a matcher-winning spin bowler in the squad.
