The 23rd Match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 will witness the clash between India and the Netherlands in the Super 12 stage at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Thursday, October 27. The Men in Blue seem high on confidence after their victory in the previous encounter against arch-rivals Pakistan as it proved to be a thrilling contest.

Rohit Sharma & co. came from behind and a vital 113-run stand between Virat Kohli and star all-rounder Hardik Pandya changed the complexion of the match. Kohli’s magnificent innings (82* off 53 balls) against Babar Azam’s side will go down as one of the historic innings ever played while chasing.

The Dutch are hurting after their loss at the hands of Bangladesh in their first match of the Super 12 stage. Coming into the fixture against India, the Netherlands appear the underdogs in comparison to the star-studded Indian line-up. Undoubtedly, the Dutch will look to give their best and hope to regroup swiftly from the loss but playing India will prove to be tricky considering the latter's might.

Let’s look at India’s probable playing XI against the Netherlands:

Openers: KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma (c)

The top order batters, Rahul and Rohit Sharma just managed to score four runs each against the Babar Azam side. India skipper has struggled to maintain consistency and has not got too many big scores he once used to get effortlessly.

Whereas Rahul also needs to get his act together and would like to hit the ground running in the upcoming game. As the matches come thick and fast, the duo will need to regain its form and build solid partnerships.

Middle-order: Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, and Dinesh Karthik (wk)

Virat Kohli is back in red-hot form as he helped team India win their first match with his magnificent knock of 82* in just 53 balls. Moreover, the knock will have surely boosted his morale and he would like to add another huge score to his name. The Netherlands will look to get him off the pitch as swiftly as possible to maximise their chances of winning the contest.

The middle order looks lethal with the presence of Suryakumar Yadav in the squad. The explosive right-hander looks in ominous form and the team would like him to fire soon. He might get a big one against the Netherlands.

The first-choice wicketkeeper, Dinesh Karthik has had a mixed form since the recent Asia Cup. His experience as compared to Rishabh Pant in the big matches is the reason why the team has backed him to play. However, the keeper-batter needs to rise to the occasion and play crucial knocks for his side.

All-rounder: Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel

Kohli’s sensational knock of 82* was undoubtedly the highlight of the match against Pakistan. But it can't be ignored that Hardik Pandya’s 113-run stand with Kohli was the game-changer. Hardik understands how to respond to the vital moments of the game well and plays accordingly.

The star all-rounder can explode at any point in a match and single-handedly guide his side to victory, moreover, Pandya was fantastic with the ball as he picked up three wickets in the last match.

Axar Patel had a dismal outing against rivals, Pakistan. With the ball in hand, the all-rounder in his very first over got smacked for 21 runs. Axar was not too good with the bat either as he just scored two runs but has a chance to redeem himself against the Netherlands in the forthcoming fixture.

Bowlers: Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ravichandran Ashwin, Arshdeep Singh, and Mohammed Shami

With the presence of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh and veteran pacer Mohammed Shami, team India’s pace department is in good hands for the marquee tournament. Bhuvneshwar was seen swinging the ball in the first couple of overs against Pakistan and managed to get a wicket under his belt with a decent economy rate of 5.50.

The Men in Blue have two death overs specialists. The young and exuberant Arshdeep coupled with experienced Shami can be lethal for the rival sides. The duo will aim to continue its aggressive bowling against the Netherlands as well. Both bowlers picked up four wickets between them against Pakistan.

The calmness displayed by Ashwin in the match against Pakistan in a high-pressure situation was much appreciated. The spinner was given three overs in which he gave away 23 runs at an economy rate of 7.67 but was not successful in scalping any wicket. The pitches in Australia may not particularly suit the spinners but Ashwin’s variations could prove to be lethal.

India predicted XI against Netherlands:

KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma (c), Suryakumar Yadav, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Axar Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ravichandran Ashwin, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Shami
