Who scored the most Test Centuries in 2025? Top 5 List

For a batter, nothing is as pure as building a knock by wearing out the red ball, and reaching the three-figure mark. Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has done it the most number of times in the longest format of the game, with a stunning record of 51 Test centuries in 200 matches during his illustrious career. Tendulkar is closely followed by Jacques Kallis (45), Ricky Ponting (41), and Joe Root (40). Of these, Root is the only active player in international cricket, and had a brilliant year in 2025 as well. Many are confident that Root will breach past the unbelievable record set by Sachin Tendulkar, and he did get very close in 2025, marking four centuries to call it a remarkable year in his cricketing career. However, the English batter does not hold the highest Test centuries in the year, but it is indeed one of his counterparts from to have scored the most tons this year. (Photo source: Getty Images) Star batter KL Rahul became India's preferred opening batter as Rohit Sharma stepped away from the format. Rahul's first match of the year came during the Sydney Test in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. However, it was the tour of England between June and August, where the ace batter put up the best of batting skills on display. Rahul made a couple of centuries in the five-match series in the UK, and then came home for the two-Test series against the West Indies. In the first game in Ahmedabad, Rahul made his third hundred of the year, which also had as many half-centuries. He ended the year 2025 with 813 runs in 10 matches at an average of 45.16, making it one of his most successful calendar in the format. Like his partner, Yashasvi Jaiswal too played all the ten Tests in 2025, and got three centuries to bring an end to yet another excellent year in his young career. The first Test against England at Leeds saw the Uttar Pradesh-born get his first three-figure score of the year, and the second one came during the final match at the Oval. (Photo source: X) Southpaw Najmul Hossain Shanto, too had as many centuries as KL Rahul, but took only six matches to reach the figure. On Bangladesh's tour of Sri Lanka earlier in the year, Shanto made twin centuries during the Galle Test, in a high-scoring drawn fixture. He then returned home for the series against Ireland, scoring his third and final ton of the year. He made 532 runs at an average of 59.11, including a fifty, too. 3. In the Christchurch fixture, he made 145 to topple the Caribbeans, but failed in Wellington. However, he returned brilliantly during the third and final match, scoring twin centuries (137 and 101) to complete a supreme whitewash against the visitors. Fellow wicketkeeper-batter and Latham's teammate Devon Conway also enjoyed his time in 2025, amassing 697 runs in just five matches, laced with three tons. In his final match of the year, he thrashed the Caribbean attack during both innings of the Mount Maunganui tie to first get his highest score in the format (227) and then following it up with a solid 100. He had previously made a 153 versus Zimbabwe as well. 2. In a year filled with ups and downs for the English batter, he ensured that his stats did not falter, aggregating for 805 runs in 10 matches in 2025. The first century in the year was special as it came at the iconic Lord's against India. He followed it up a Manchester ton as well. He ended the India series brilliantly with another ton at the Oval, however, the hosts lost the match and the series was eventually drawn 2-2. The next big stage for the right-handed batter was in the Ashes, playing Down Under. He made it worth remembering, as the fourth ton of the year, was also his first on the Australian soil since his Test debut. He reached the milestone during the Brisbane game. 1. During the nine matches he played in 2025, the Fazilka-born accounted for a mind-boggling tally of 983 runs at a fabulous average of 70.21. During his first-ever innings as captain, Gill made a brilliant 147 at the Leeds, and when the Birmingham Test came, he became a showstopper for his 269 and 161 in the first and second innings, respectively. By now, everyone was already in awe of Shubman's abilities to bat overseas, but he just wasn't done yet, collecting his fourth big score of the year in Manchester. When it came to his first home assignment as the skipper, Gill made a fifty in the Ahmedabad tie, but New Delhi got him his fifth hundred of the year, also becoming the batter with most centuries in 2025.
