The last and best on the list is the latest India captain Shubman Gill. During the nine matches he played in 2025, the Fazilka-born accounted for a mind-boggling tally of 983 runs at a fabulous average of 70.21. During his first-ever innings as captain, Gill made a brilliant 147 at the Leeds, and when the Birmingham Test came, he became a showstopper for his 269 and 161 in the first and second innings, respectively.

When it came to his first home assignment as the skipper, Gill made a fifty in the Ahmedabad tie, but New Delhi got him his fifth hundred of the year, also becoming the batter with most centuries in 2025.
