Delhi Capitals confirmed Sourav Ganguly as their head coach for the IPL 2027 season on October 6, 2026. It is his first formal coaching role with the franchise, though he has been associated with DC since 2019 as an Advisor and later as Director of Cricket for both the men's and women's teams. Ganguly replaced Hemang Badani, who had been in charge for IPL 2025 and IPL 2026. Under Badani, DC finished sixth in the league stage in both IPL 2024 and IPL 2026, and the franchise is yet to win an IPL title.

Here are three coaches who could be better options than Sourav Ganguly for DC:

Adam Voges stepped away from his eight-year stint as men's head coach of Western Australia at the close of the 2025-26 domestic season, citing a desire to pursue global T20 franchise opportunities. That decision opened the door to a busy international coaching portfolio.

Voges holds the Perth Scorchers head coaching position in the Big Bash League and was appointed head coach of the Seattle Orcas in Major League Cricket. He has also worked as an assistant coach with the Trent Rockets in The Hundred and served as a consultant with Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL, giving him direct experience of the Indian franchise environment.
