3 Gems found by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2025 season
Chennai Super Kings handed IPL debut caps to three players in the 2025 edition.
1. Ayush Mhatre
The 17-year-old Ayush Mhatre has emerged as one of Chennai Super Kings' biggest finds this year. Signed as a replacement for the injured Ruturaj Gaikwad, the Mumbai-born player grabbed the opportunity with both hands. On debut at his home ground, Wankhede Stadium, Mhatre began brilliantly with 32 off 15 balls and was instrumental in giving his side a solid start.
However, his knock of 94 against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru grabbed significant attention. Chasing 214, Mhatre nearly pulled off an incredible feat alongside partner Ravindra Jadeja. In five games, he has hammered 163 runs at a strike rate of 181.11. In List A, he has smashed 458 runs in seven matches, including a record-breaking 181 against Nagaland. Mhatre also had stellar performances in the Irani Cup and the Under-19 Asia Cup. CSK has a history of nurturing young talent, and Mhatre could be the next player the Chennai team invests heavily in.
