1. Hanuma Vihari

One of biggest talking points after the announcement of the squads was the absence of Hanuma Vihari. Chairman of selectors Chetan Sharma voiced that the measure was taken because Vihari ‘does not fit in’ India's combination for the Bangladesh series.

The batter was last included in the England series in their previous Test outing where he projected a rather dismal performance scoring only 20 off 53 balls and 11 off 44 balls in the first and second innings. However, the Test specialist lost his spot due to middle order becoming ‘packed’ considering the likes of Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer and others.

Moreover, the selectors believe, despite the batter’s fine ability of staying calm under pressure and playing vital innings, he may not be the best option in the Bangladesh pitches and conditions. As per the selectors, he may make his return in another bilateral series later on next year.
