1. 1983 Prudential World Cup Final, Lord's
On June 25, 1983, India faced West Indies in the Prudential World Cup Final at Lord's Cricket Ground in London. India, captained by Kapil Dev, entered the match as underdogs against a West Indies side that had won the previous two World Cup titles in 1975 and 1979 and were appearing in their third consecutive final.
India were bowled out for 183 in 54.4 overs after West Indies won the toss and elected to field. The total looked modest, but India's bowlers made it count. Viv Richards, who had looked dangerous on 33, was caught by Kapil Dev off Madan Lal's bowling, and West Indies never recovered from that dismissal. They were bowled out for 140 in 52 overs, handing India a 43-run victory. Mohinder Amarnath was named Player of the Match for scoring 26 runs and taking 3 wickets. A huge crowd watched India claim their first-ever World Cup title.
