Rishabh Pant's struggles in the IPL in Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) colours continued in IPL 2026. He became the highest-paid player in the IPL after earning a record-shattering INR 27 crore contract at the IPL 2025 mega auction. Despite an abysmal season with the bat and as a leader, LSG decided to give him another opportunity.

However, Pant failed to repay for the faith that LSG management showed in his abilities. Under his leadership, LSG finished at the bottom of the table. LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka is known for his hunger for success, and after two consecutive disappointing seasons for his franchise, he could opt for a revamp, and it could start with Pant's release.
