Five cricketers who scored most runs across formats in 2025

1. Shubman Gill (India)

India's Shubman Gill signed off 2025 as the highest run-scorer across formats. With 1764 runs in 35 matches, seven centuries, and an average touching 50, Gill enjoyed a memorable season. The year saw him taking India’s Test captaincy following Rohit Sharma’s retirement, and he later took charge in ODIs and was also named T20I vice-captain.

Gill had a historic tour of England, where he scored 754 runs, including a double century, leading India from the front. He was also named the Player of the Series. Despite his overall brilliance, Gill missed out on India’s T20 World Cup squad due to team combinations and a lack of returns in the shortest format.
