Mumbai Indians have been the most successful franchise in the history of the Indian Premier League having won the title on five occasions. However, they were a pale shadow of their old dominant self in the 15th edition of the marquee tournament. Rohit Sharma & Co. could only win four games out of 14 in the league stage and were the wooden spoon holders of the competition.

MI did not pick a well-rounded side at the 2022 mega auction which plagued their campaign big time. With the next season in sight, the team management would look to make amends and rope in some top-quality personnel for the following season. A few of the top-drawer cricketers whom MI can target are featuring in the ongoing T20 World Cup in Australia.

Let us look at the players from the T20 World Cup 2022 who might feature for MI next season:

3. Cameron Green

Cameron Green’s stocks in white-ball cricket have experienced a meteoric rise of late. The Australian all-rounder has scored 249 runs in 11 ODIs played this calendar year at a strike rate of 93.60 and bagged 11 wickets at an economy of 4.84. When it comes to the T20Is, the 23-year-old has set the stage ablaze scoring 136 runs in seven games at a phenomenal strike rate of 174.35 and also picking five wickets for his side.

Generally a lower-middle-order batter in Tests and ODIs, Green has shown his flexibility to bat in the opening slot in the shortest format and the bulk of his runs in T20Is have come in that position. On the bowling front, the ace-all-rounder has been quite effective and can extract bounce even from docile surfaces. Thus, his inclusion has added depth to the Australian side.

A seam-bowling all-rounder has been in high demand in the IPL and one can expect Mumbai Indians to be one of the franchises interested in roping Green for the next edition. The Mumbai team struggled to fill the Hardik Pandya-sized void in the last mega auction and thus could have an eye on the Australian cricketer to fulfill the all-rounder role.
