IPL 2023: 3 Players Sunrisers Hyderabad might pick at auction

Williamson struggled at the opening slot for SRH in the 15th edition of the lucrative T20 tournament and could only manage 216 runs in 13 games at a poor strike rate of 93.51. Due to the veteran batter’s mediocre performances, Sunrisers Hyderabad released him from the squad. The Hyderabad franchise also parted ways with Pooran and Priyam Garg ahead of the auction.

Having released the batting trio, SRH would need a quality opening batter to partner Abhishek Sharma and the think tank could look at Mayank Agarwal for the role. The 31-year-old has been a prolific run-getter in the IPL, having accumulated 2327 runs in 113 games at a strike rate of 134.28.

The Indian batter is someone who can hold the innings and allow stroke makers around him to play with freedom. Further, Mayank has all the shots in the book and can take top-quality attacks to the cleaners.

Besides his batting might, the Bangalore-born has a considerable amount of experience when it comes to leading a side in the shortest format. Thus, SRH can look at him as their next gun opener and also as a future captain. Hence, it should not be a surprise if Hyderabad goes all guns blazing to pick the Indian batter at the forthcoming auction.
