IPL 2026: Best overseas 4 for GT

The Gujarat Titans (GT) had a good season last time around where they finished third in the standings, only to lose to Mumbai Indians in the playoffs. The team from Ahmedabad have a squad filled with exciting Indian talent along with some outstanding overseas players who are some of the legends in T20 cricket. A perfect harmony between those two allows a team to do well in the Indian Premier League (IPL), something GT managed to do last time around. GT fans have some great overseas players to watch out for as the side embarks on their fifth season in the IPL. Here are the best four overseas players within the GT squad: 4. Glenn Phillips - New Zealand Glenn Phillips. (Photo source: BCCI) Glenn Phillips has been part of the Gujarat Titans (GT) since 2025 where he was picked up in the mega auction for INR 2 crore. The New Zealand star, however, did not play a single game for his new side. Phillips is an all-rounder in every stretch of the imagination. The right-hander is some of the cleanest hitters of a cricket ball whilst batting in the lower-middle order and can bowl some very tidy offbreaks if necessary. The 29-year-old is also one of, if not the best, fielders in the world and is even capable of keeping wickets. Phillips could be the missing link for GT this year that can lengthen their batting order whilst giving them a sixth bowling option. He is, however, in a battle with West Indies’ Jason Holder for a similar role in this Indian Premier League (IPL) season. 3. Kagiso Rabada - South Africa Kagiso Rabada (Source: Pankaj Nangia/Getty Images) Kagiso Rabada’s IPL campaign ended abruptly last time around but the South Africa fast bowler will be wanting to rectify that this season. Rabada has had some great IPL campaigns over the course of career, which included a 30-wicket season for the Delhi Capitals back in 2020. Despite being slightly on the expensive side in recent times, Rabada’s pace and ability with the new ball will remain vital for GT during the start. GT, however, signed England’s Luke Wood as a replacement for Rabada should require. 2. Jos Buttler - England Jos Buttler. (Photo Source - BCCI) Form is temporary but class is permanent as far as Jos Buttler is concerned. The former England white-ball captain comes into the 2026 IPL on the back of an underwhelming T20 World Cup, scoring just 87 runs from eight games. Despite his poor showing in the tournament, Buttler will always remain an IPL threat based on record in the tournament. Last year saw the 35-year-old score 538 at an average of almost 60 and strike-rate of 163.03. Buttler is expected to continue batting at the number three position, allowing Sai Sudharsan and captain Shubman Gill to open. The position worked great for Buttler who does not have to worry about going big from the very beginning and can find his feet first. 1. Rashid Khan - Afghanistan Rashid Khan Wicket celebration (Source: Pankaj Nangia/Getty Images) Rashid Khan remains GT’s biggest asset, not only with the bowl but also with the bat thanks to his pinch-hitting skills in the death overs. It is, however, worth mentioning that the Afghanistan superstar has only picked up 19 wickets in his last two IPL campaigns. The 27-year-old, however, had a decent T20 World Cup where he took six wickets from four games at an economy rate of just 6.68. The experience of Rashid makes him GT’s most important overseas player in the upcoming 2026 IPL season. The spinner has played 519 games in the shortest format of the game.
