Virat Kohli has a staggering 53 centuries in ODI cricket, which is a world record. However, this number could have been greater had he not been dismissed several times in the 90s during his illustrious career.

On Sunday, January 11, Kohli was dismissed for 93 off 91 balls in the first ODI against New Zealand at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara. He narrowly missed out on scoring his 85th international century. This was the seventh time he was dismissed in the nervous 90s in ODI cricket in 309 matches and 297 innings. Interestingly, Kohli's idol Sachin Tendulkar has been dismissed the most number of times (18) in the 90s in ODI cricket.

A young Virat Kohli played a gem of an innings at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on January 7, 2010, against Bangladesh, helping the Indian team chase down a 297-run target quite comfortably. This was in a tri-nation tournament, also involving Sri Lanka. Apart from Kohli, MS Dhoni also played well, remaining unbeaten on 101 off 107 balls.
