8. Dushan Hemantha

In Wanindu Hasaranga’s absence, Dushan Hemantha will carry the responsibility of spearheading the spin attack. The 29-year-old broke into international cricket this year during the ODI series against Afghanistan in June. The leg-spinner has played two ODIs, in which he has picked up two wickets at an economy of 5.21.
Like Hasaranga, Hemantha could also be handy with the bat down the order. In List A cricket, he has scored 1175 runs in 58 innings of 64 matches, at a strike rate of 83.68. Hemantha’s endeavours will be to play positive cricket in the continental tournament and reserve his spot in the team that will travel to India for the 2023 World Cup.
