Top 5 players who failed to justify their price tags in IPL 2026
Teams spent massive fortunes on big-name stars, expecting them to win matches single-handedly.
1. Jasprit Bumrah (Mumbai Indians)
Arguably the most complete fast bowler for the modern era, Jasprit Bumrah had a horror IPL 2026 for the Mumbai Indians. The Indian star managed to pick up just four wickets, with a humongous bowling average of 102.50. It was one of the biggest reasons for MI’s poor outing in IPL 2026.
He also captained them for one game this season, but the five-time champions failed to reach the playoffs stage. He was retained by Mumbai Indians for a whopping price of ₹18 crore. But his performance this year was nowhere near that quality. It was the biggest disappointment of IPL 2026.
