Shreyas Iyer has been one of India's most consistent batters in ODI cricket in recent years. He is also renowned for his captaincy skills after doing well for Delhi Capitals (DC), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and Punjab Kings (PBKS).

The Mumbai batter has played 14 Tests, 70 ODIs, and 51 T20Is. He has scored 811, 2845, and 1104 runs across the three formats, respectively. Shreyas finished as the highest run-getter for India in their triumphant Champions Trophy 2025 campaign. He also played a key role in helping India reach the finals of the 2023 ODI World Cup.

What is Shreyas Iyer doing right now?

Shreyas Iyer played in the T20 Mumbai League 2025 after his stint in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The 30-year-old finished as runners-up in both tournaments, leading SoBo Mumbai Falcons and Punjab Kings to the final in the two tournaments, respectively. After the two gruelling events, Shreyas is apparently taking a much-deserved break, resting and recuperating for the assignments ahead.

How did Shreyas Iyer fare in IPL 2025?

Shreyas had his best IPL season as a batter this year. He scored 500-plus runs only in one edition of the tournament back in 2020. However, in IPL 2025, he amassed 604 runs at an average of 50.33 and a strike rate of 175.07. Shreyas also took Punjab Kings to the final. He became the first Indian player to lead PBKS to the summit clash in the IPL. They lost the final to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Ahmedabad on June 3.

When will Shreyas Iyer play next for India?

Many fans and experts believed that Shreyas deserved a spot in India's Test side, which is currently in England competing with Ben Stokes' in for the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. However, the selectors could not find a place for the experienced campaigner.

Shreyas has not played a Test match since February 2024 and a T20I since December 2023. However, he has been an integral part of the ODI setup. The right-handed batter is expected to be a part of the ODI side, which will travel to Bangladesh in August to play a three-match series against the Tigers.
