Ashleigh Gardner starred with the ball to help Australia see off the spirited performance from England and win the one-off Test. She picked up eight wickets in the second innings as England were bowled out for 178. In the first innings, the right-arm spinner had picked up 4 wickets as she finished the game with figures of 12 for 165.
In the first innings, she dismissed England captain Heather Knight, Natalie Sciver-Brunt, Sophia Dunkley and double-centurion Tammy Beaumont to help her team take a small 10-run lead. In the second innings, there was absolutely no stopping as Gardner claimed the best-ever match figures by an Australian woman.
England started the fifth day of the Test needing 152 runs to win with five wickets in hand. But before they could even come close to the win, Gardner picked up all the five wickets to wrap up a famous win for Australia.
