Chamari Athapaththu is widely regarded as one of the most consistent performers for Sri Lanka across formats throughout the year. On Wednesday, UP Warriorz held the largest remaining purse at INR 3.65 crore, and many expected them to pursue the Sri Lankan captain given her match-winning abilities with both bat and ball.

However, representatives of all five franchises remained unmoved when Athapaththu's name came up, and she went unsold. The left-handed batter may still enter the WPL 2027 season as a replacement player, but for now she will be disappointed to have missed out at the auction.
