Cricket Association of Nepal name 15-member squad for U19 Asia Cup

Nepal is scheduled to play their opening fixture of the multination tournament against Bangladesh on December 23.

The Asian Cricket Council Under 19 Asia Cup was previously staged to be held in the UAE in 2020. However, the high-profile tournament was delayed due to the ongoing Covid 19 pandemic. It is now all set to kick start from December 23 with the final scheduled to be played on 31st December.

Ahead of the start of the high-profile event, the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has announced their 15 members, strong squad, for the tournament. Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, and UAE are placed in group A for the marquee event. Whereas on the other hand, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Kuwait find themselves in group B. All the matches of group A will take place in Dubai whereas that of Group B will be held in Sharjah.

Nepal is scheduled to play their opening fixture of the multination tournament against Bangladesh on  December 23 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The under 19 teams of India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan have played a good amount of competitive cricket before heading into this tournament.

A total of eight teams will compete in this mega competition which will follow a round-robin format. Out of the eight members, five are full members of the ICC whereas three are qualifiers. India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan are the full member whereas Kuwait, Nepal, and UAE are the qualifiers.

Here is Nepal Under 19 squad for the Asia Cup:

Dev Khanal (c), Sher Malla (vc), Dipesh Kandel, Vivek Yadav, Vivek Rana Magar, Gulshan Jha, Santosh Karki, Adil Ansari, Tilak Raj Bhandari, Arjun Kumal, Vasir Ahmed, Durgesh Gupta, Prakash Jaisi, Arjun Saud, Rahul Bhandari

The Board of Control for Cricket in India also announced its squad for the high-profile tournament.

Here is the India U19 Asia Cup squad:

Harnoor Singh Pannu, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Ansh Gosai, S K Rasheed, Yash Dhull (Captain), Anneshwar Gautam, Siddharth Yadav, Kaushal Tambe, Nishant Sindhu, Dinnesh Bana (wk), Aaradhya Yadav (wk), Rajangad Bawa, Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Garv Sangwan, Ravi Kumar, Rishith Reddy, Manav Parakh, Amrit Raj Upadhyay, Vicky Ostwal, Vasu Vats (subject to fitness clearance).

The board also announced standby players who will attend preparatory camp at NCA. They are: Ayush Singh Thakur, Uday Saharan, Shashwat Dangwal, Dhanush Gowda, PM Singh Rathore
