Cricket Australia announce revised home schedule for Sri Lanka T20I series

The first four games will start from 7:10 PM according to the time zones in Sydney.

Cricket Australia has announced the revised schedule of the five-match T20I series against Sri Lanka at home. The first two games will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground, the third one will be played at the Manuka Oval in Canberra and the remaining games will be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Earlier, second, third, and fourth matches were allotted to Brisbane and Adelaide but are now shifted to Sydney and Melbourne.

The first four games will start from 7:10 PM according to the time zones in Sydney, Canberra, and Melbourne. The last game will be played from 5:10 PM according to Melbourne time. Meanwhile, Cricket Australia in a press release has said that changes in the schedule are made “to minimize biosecurity risks by reducing travel across the country.”

CA CEO Nick Hockley has said that the board will continu to prioritize the health and safety of every stakeholder in the game.

“CA will continue to prioritize the health and safety of all players, match officials, staff, fans, broadcasters, and the wider community as we navigate the challenges presented by Covid-19,” said Cricket Australia (CA) CEO Nick Hockley.

Hockley added that the board understands the disappointment of the fans in Queensland and South Australia but they will remain committed to bringing the game in all the states and territories of the country.

“We know that fans in South Australia and Queensland will be disappointed to miss out on these matches and we remain committed to bringing international cricket to all states and territories across the country as safe as possible.

“We thank Sri Lanka Cricket for working closely with us to make the series possible and look forward to five entertaining matches,” Hockley added.

  • February 11: Australia v Sri Lanka, SCG

  • February 13: Australia v Sri Lanka, SCG

  • February 15: Australia v Sri Lanka, Manuka Oval

  • February 18: Australia v Sri Lanka, MCG

  • February 20: Australia v Sri Lanka, MCG

The announcement has come a day after the home series against their Trans Tasman rivals New Zealand have been postponed. The series was postponed as people are uncertain about when they will be able to return home due to COVID-19 protocols.
