Succeeding in Test cricket for the entire season and calendar year is the ultimate parameter to judge any bowler. To be able to do that it requires relentless focus, extended commitment, unremitting accuracy, extreme levels of fitness and high  consistency more than anything else. A bowler has to give it his everything, ball after ball, in an attempt to make the batsman commit a mistake.

Great skills and mental toughness are a prerequisite to be able to make a batsmen commit mistakes. The weaknesses are to be centred upon and a well thought out and disguised trap must be set. 2018 was one of those years where the bowlers enjoyed the challenge and generated some marvellous results in Test cricket individually and for the team as well. They played a critical role in their team’s success and made the life difficult for the opposition with almost every spell.

Here is the best bowler for each of the Test playing nations in 2018:

Zimbabwe cricket team has had one of the most memorable years in Test cricket in 2018. For the first time since 2001, they managed to win an away Test match against Bangladesh. They defeated the hosts by 151 runs in the first of the two-match series which eventually ended up 1-1.

Kyle Jarvis was their best bowler of the year with 10 wickets in four innings. The pacer also picked up a five-wicket haul in the second Test even though it was in a losing cause. He managed to hit the right areas, had his plans in place and was definitely the most consistent of all the Zimbabwe bowlers.
