Indian leg-spinner Rahul Chahar recently shared his picks for the greatest spinners of all time, naming a mix of global legends and Indian stalwarts. Notably, his list included two Indians, Anil Kumble and Ravichandran Ashwin, who together share 1,721 international wickets and feature among the top 15 highest wicket-takers in the history of the game.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with CricTracker, Chahar was asked to name his all-time favourite spinners. The 25-year-old mentioned Australian great Shane Warne, Sri Lankan legend Muttiah Muralitharan, and former South Africa leg-spinner Imran Tahir. Interestingly, Chahar has shared a dressing room with Tahir during their stint together at Rising Pune Supergiants in the IPL. From India, Chahar named Kumble and Ashwin, who have been great ambassadors of international cricket.

“Shane Warne, Muttiah Muralitharan, Imran Tahir, Anil Kumble, sir, Ravi Ashwin,” Chahar said.

The young leg-spinner also enjoys a close professional connection with both Indian stalwarts. Kumble, who served as head coach of Punjab Kings between 2020 and 2022, played a crucial role in Chahar’s being picked by the franchise ahead of the IPL 2022 season. That year, Chahar featured in 13 matches and claimed 14 wickets. Meanwhile, his association with Ashwin dates back to their time together at Rising Pune Supergiants in 2017 and later with the Indian national team.
