David Warner adjudged POTM:

“It (groin) is a little bit sore, all cramps at the moment, that's all it is. It (partnership with Marsh) was awesome, once we got the pace of the wicket, we were going to try and target their bowlers. For us to go out there and put a performance like that is very pleasing. Committing and backing my skills, I had a good hit yesterday, it was ticking along, I was just one bit of luck away and it helps when you're hitting the ball out of the middle. Playing on a ground like this as well, you got to take those chances. Just to get out there and build a partnership with Mitch today. We spoke about trying to bat till 35 overs at least and then probably score heavily in the back end. From our perspective, there's a little bit of tinkering there we got to work on, we lost 5 or 6 wickets in the last 10. Every run is valuable, part of my DNA is to run hard between wickets, I have always done that and I'll always continue to keep doing that as long as I keep playing,“ Warner said.

Winning skipper Pat Cummins said:

“Great win. Always pretty tough playing here at Chinnaswamy but good win. Set the tone (those two - Marsh and Warner) of how we want to play our cricket. That's the thing sometimes in ODI cricket. You get one breakthrough and sometimes it's hard for the new batter. Saw Stoin coming in, hit the pitch hard and provide the breakthrough. Zampa showed his class. He's a real wicket-taker for us in the middle. Have a 3-4 day break, need to keep up the benchmark from the last couple of games,” Cummins said.

Losing skipper Babar Azam said:

“Were not up to the mark with the ball. And if you drop the catch of someone like Warner, he won't spare you. This is a big scoring ground, margin of error is very less. Whole credit to fast bowlers and spinners for the way we pulled it back in last few overs. Just tried to hit the length and hit the stumps. Message was simple - we can do it, we've done it in the past. Ball came on well under lights. Couldn't get big partnerships in the middle overs. Need to be better in the first 10 overs with the ball, and better in the middle overs with the bat,“ Babar said.

Australia faces Pakistan in the 18th match of the ICC World Cup 2023 in Bengaluru. Both the teams must rekindle their precision and aggressiveness as Pakistan come after a massive defeat against India while Australia have lost two in three games so far.

Australia finds itself in a more taxing state of affairs than Pakistan in the ongoing World Cup with losses to India and South Africa having left them in a precarious position. They won against Sri Lanka in their most recent clash and need to capitalize on it to secure a spot in the knockout stage.

Australia's batting lineup is chiefly responsible for their state in the tournament. With the exception of Josh Inglis, no other Australian batter has managed to score a half-century in the tournament. Furthermore, Marnus Labuschagne is the sole batter who has surpassed the 100-run mark in total. Consider this: Mitchell Starc, with 55 runs, has outperformed Glenn Maxwell (49) and is nearly on par with Steve Smith (65), David Warner (65), and Mitchell Marsh (59) from three matches.

Pakistan's historical forte has resided in their capacity to exhibit unyielding courage when confronting high-stakes situations, a trait vividly confirmed during their triumphant 1992 campaign. However, the current World Cup narrative tells a different story. In the pivotal encounter against India, Pakistan capitulated at the first sign of pressure, succumbing to a seven-wicket defeat.

As the Green Brigade faces the Aussies, Pakistan encounters a fresh pressure point. While not on par with India, Australia remains a formidable adversary. The statistics reveal a significant historical edge for the Australians, who boast a 69-34 lead in the ODI head-to-head along with a 6-4 lead in 50-over World Cup encounters.

With the absence of the injured pacer Naseem Shah, Pakistan has placed a significant burden on the youthful shoulders of 23-year-old Shaheen Afridi. Unfortunately, the left-arm seamer has not yet hit his peak performance in the tournament. Afridi must urgently rediscover the lethal combination of pace and swing that characterizes his effectiveness in white-ball formats.
