Goodnight folks!
India managed to beat Afghanistan by a comfortable margin to win their second successive match in ODI World Cup 2023. Alright, that's that from our coverage. See ya tomorrow!
Losing skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi said:
"We had in mind that India's batting line up is long, 300 was on our mind but unfortunately we lost too many wickets. The surface was good. We wanted to score more runs and put pressure on the opposition. Back-to-back wickets was the reason didn't score more runs. After losing 3 wickets I was talking to Azmatullah - Don't worry about dots, we will convert later. Our aim was to build a partnership. We have seven more games, looking forward to those games. Hopefully, we learn from our mistakes and we will work on it," Shahidi said.

Winning skipper and POTM Rohit Sharma said:
"It was a good pitch to bat on, just backed myself to play my natural game. I knew once I got my eye in, the wicket was going to get easier for me. Something that I have been working on from a long time. It's a special feeling to get a World Cup hundred. Really happy with that. Don't want to think too much (scoring 7 hundreds in just three world cups), I don't want to lose my focus. You need to make such things count. You gotta make it big. Some of it (the shots he plays) is premeditated. I let my instincts take over at times, sometimes it really works well. It's my job to make sure to get those starts especially in run chases. That's something I have done in the past and something I love doing. Sometimes it (attacking the bowlers) works, sometimes it doesn't. Just need to keep doing it and keep putting oppositions under pressure going forward," Rohit Sharma said.

Team India (IND) will lock horns with Afghanistan (AFG) in the ninth match in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 on Wednesday, October 11 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
India come into this clash on the back of a phenomenal six-wicket win against Australia in Chennai in their first game. Meanwhile, Afghanistan had a disappointing start to their campaign in the marquee event as they lost by six wickets against Bangladesh in Dharamsala. On paper, the 'Men in Blue' are the overwhelming favourites to win this clash but they will be wary of the Afghans, who almost managed to defeat them in the 2019 ODI World Cup.
Rohit Sharma and Co. will be without the services of Shubman Gill, who is the leading run-getter in ODIs in 2023, as he is suffering from dengue. While this is a huge miss, the team management will be thrilled with the form shown by Virat Kohli and KL Rahul. They saved India from a precarious situation in the game against Australia and the home fans will hope to see them continuing their purple patches.
India's spin troika of Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Kuldeep Yadav spun a web around the Aussie batters on a dryish pitch at Chepauk. However, the team management may consider bringing in an extra seamer for this game to rattle the Afghan side. Mohammed Shami could get a look in as he took a hat-trick against the 'Blue Tigers' in the 2019 World Cup.
Afghanistan will be relying heavily on two partnerships. With the bat, the opening partnership between Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran will be crucial. On the bowling front, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Rashid Khan will have to work in tandem to keep the Indian batters on their toes. Afghanistan might be having a topsy-turvy run of form as of late but they have the capability of causing an upset and India will do well not to sit on their laurels and get complacent.
Delhi hosted the ODI World Cup 2023 game between South Africa and Sri Lanka and more than 750 runs were scored. Another run-fest could be on the cards on Wednesday.
