Dwayne Bravo produced a moment of genuine brilliance at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on October 4, 2026, pouching a stunning one-handed catch to remove Faf du Plessis during the World Championship of Legends 2026 match between West Indies Champions and South Africa Champions.

The 42-year-old Bravo moved to his right and stretched his body fully to complete the dismissal with a single hand, reaching just a few yards outside the inner circle to hold on. The effort drew widespread admiration given the athleticism required from a veteran cricketer of his age competing at this level.

South Africa Champions had batted first in the match, with Richard Levi and du Plessis walking out to open the innings together at Sharjah. Du Plessis, one of the most experienced batsmen in the South Africa Champions line-up, was removed before he could build a substantial contribution at the top of the order.

"Might be the best catch of the tournament. What a catch! What a performer... Dwayne Bravo, 42-year-old, young," the commentator said on FanCode.

How did Bravo complete the catch?

Bravo was positioned in the outfield when the ball was struck in his direction. Rather than allowing it to carry past him, he committed fully to his right side, extended his arm and completed the take with one hand just a few yards outside the inner circle.

The combination of his positioning, his read of the ball's trajectory and his willingness to commit to a difficult chance made the dismissal stand out. The catch ended du Plessis's innings and gave West Indies Champions an early breakthrough against the defending champions, placing additional pressure on the South Africa Champions middle order to rebuild the innings at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

What is the World Championship of Legends 2026?

The WCL 2026 is the third edition of the tournament and is being staged across the United Arab Emirates from October 3 to October 18, 2026. Sharjah Cricket Stadium is among the venues hosting fixtures during the event. This is the first time that the tournament is being played in the UAE, as England had hosted the first couple of seasons.

South Africa Champions arrive at this edition as defending champions, having claimed the 2025 WCL title. West Indies Champions, with Bravo among their key figures, are one of the sides aiming to dethrone them across the group stage and knockout rounds of the competition.
