ACB announces Afghanistan A squad for Rising Stars Asia Cup 2025 in Qatar, Darwish Rasooli to lead
The 15-member squad comprises 10 players from last year's tournament.
Darwish Rasooli has been announced as Afghanistan A's captain for the upcoming ACC Rising Stars Asia Cup 2025. He had led the side in the previous tournament too. This time around, the tournament is scheduled to be played in Doha from November 14 to November 23.
The 15-member squad comprises 10 players from last year's tournament. Sediqullah Atal, AM Ghazanfar and Qais Ahmad were also a part of last year's squad and are part of the line-up this time around too. Rasooli had led Afghanistan A to the Rising Stars Asia Cup title last year. There are three reserve players who have also been shortlisted by the ACB.
Atal had scored a run-a-ball 55 against Sri Lanka A to win the final for Afghanistan A. He is a regular member in Afghanistan's senior white-ball team too, having played 22 T20Is, 12 ODIs and one Test. Ghazanfar has represented Afghanistan in all formats since his international debut in 2024. Qais, meanwhile, last played for the national setup in 2024.
Afghanistan A have been placed in Pool B with Sri Lanka A, Bangladesh A and Hong Kong. Their campaign is scheduled to get underway on November 15 (Saturday) against Sri Lanka A. This will be followed by contests against Bangladesh A on November 17 (Monday) and Hong Kong on November 19 (Wednesday).
